DESIGNER
HANNA KARIKOSKI
"What do the lamps represent?" "Where has the shape originated?"
For me, producing shapes is intellectual work. I gather visual material mentally from the surrounding world, nature and the built environment. I draw on this repository of material to combine the elements together. This mind game is a playing field of endless opportunities.
I design the lamps by fitting together the shape, structure, technology, and the function of the lighting. Each element has its own thought-out place. For me, design is about solving challenging problems and making rewarding insights. In the design of the lamps, light and shadow are fascinating elements that bring the lamp to life.
The answer to the question of what the lamps represent is that they do not represent anything predefined. My aim is to break down boundaries. To get my beholders to see and experience for themselves. My design is the result of my concentration, it is spirit in physical form.
